Resume

Erich Eder is an Assistant Professor of Biology at the Medical Faculty and has been teaching at the University of Vienna for more than 20 years (homepage.univie.ac.at/erich.eder). After his PhD in zoology at the Department of Evolutionary Biology (Univ. of Vienna) he focused on morphological, ecological and conservation biology research. International talks; guest researcher at the Humboldt University Berlin, Københavns Universitet and Universitá di Bologna; Theodor Körner Prize for Science (1999), City of Vienna Prize for Science and Education (2004), Josef Schöffel Prize for Nature Conservation (2008), UNIVIE Teaching Award (2019).
At SFU MED, he is head of the Science Lab (Microscopy), the teaching modules B6 (Foundations of Life / Biology for Medical Students), and POL (Problem Oriented Learning), and teaches at Journal Club (retrieving, reading and writing scientific papers).
He supervises master’s theses on evolution, sexual education, medicinal herbs, CoViD19, and other topics. For the last few years, he has been focusing on the causes of creationism, alternative medicine and superstition ("paranormal belief"), as well as on science didactics ad theory of science.
